Jail inmate's death under investigation

TEXARKANA -- The Arkansas State Police is investigating the death of an inmate last weekend at the Miller County jail.

During routine checks about 5 p.m. July 8, jail staff members found Anthony Corey Bradley, 47, of Texarkana unresponsive. The jail's medical personnel responded and called emergency medical services, but "attempts to resuscitate Bradley were unsuccessful," a news release from Miller County sheriff's office said.

As is policy, the sheriff's office notified the state police Criminal Investigation Division to look into Bradley's death. The inmate's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Little Rock for an autopsy.

"Bradley was being housed alone in a cell, and had no physical interaction with other inmates or Detention Center Staff other than routine interaction," the news release said.

Bradley had been held since July 6 on a probation violation for a previous criminal offense.
