Burglar steals nearly $400 from west Little Rock ice cream shop after entering through rooftop door, police say

A burglar wearing a black ski mask stole nearly $400 from a Shake's Frozen Custard location after breaking into the business through a rooftop door, authorities said.

Officers responded early Sunday to the ice cream shop at 12011 Westhaven Dr. in Little Rock, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

Surveillance footage showed a white male attempt to enter the business through an unlocked rooftop door at 2:40 a.m. When the alarm sounded, he climbed back up the stairs to the roof and waited until 3:20 a.m. to re-enter, the report states.

The burglar is shown ripping cords from an Internet modem and turning several cameras away from view during the break-in.

The 36-year-old business owner told officers the thief stole $345 from a metal change box and about $42 from a cash drawer inside the office.

Police wrote that the burglar was wearing a white sweatshirt, black shorts, black shoes, black gloves and a black ski mask.

No suspect had been named, and no arrest had been made at the time of the report.
