Little Rock police say a driver brandished a handgun and pointed it at a motorist in another vehicle Saturday afternoon in a suspected act of road rage.
Officers were called around 2:30 p.m. to 8717 Geyer Springs Road in reference to a suspicious person, according to a report from the city’s Police Department.
A 28-year-old Little Rock resident told police that as she was driving south on Geyer Springs Road, an orange 2013 Hyundai Veloster pulled out in front of her and honked, prompting her to honk back.
According to the report, the Hyundai's driver, 36-year-old Jose Perez of Cabot then reached underneath the driver’s seat and pulled out a “black looking handgun."
Perez leaned over a front passenger and pointed the handgun at the 28-year-old as she traveled in a gray 2016 Dodge Journey, police said.
That prompted the woman to pull into the parking lot of Sharks Fish and Chicken, 8824 Geyer Springs Road, she told officers. Perez traveled across the street to the parking lot of Citi Trends, 8717 Geyer Springs Road, according to authorities.
After officers responded, a silver handgun was found and taken from the Hyundai's glove box, the report states.
Perez told police that the encounter started after the 28-year-old "cut him off on the freeway and started yelling at them." He added that "all they did was wave bye" at the woman, according to authorities.
Records show Perez remained at the Pulaski County jail as of Monday morning, and bail had not been set. He faces two counts of aggravated assault.
