Work is progressing to transform a bath house in Hot Springs into a new boutique hotel, the developer told the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record.
Pat McCabe, who is also the mayor of Hot Springs, said the interior of the Hale Bath House is "really starting to look like hotel rooms."
McCabe told the newspaper that demolition was wrapping up and that crews will soon start on an assortment of projects including electrical, HVAC and plumbing. Plumbing from the thermal springs will be installed for the guest room bath tubs as well as connections to city water, he said.
"Driving by it still may look like there's not a lot of activity. I tell people there are a lot of people in there, I promise," McCabe said. "I'm just trying to let the public know because right now it doesn't look like a lot is happening."
Pat and Ellen McCabe signed a lease with the park service in August of 2017 to reopen the bathhouse as a boutique hotel. It's expected to reopen by the end of the year at an estimated cost of around $1.25 million.
