WHAT: Bubba's Fine Foods snacks
STATS: A serving (1/3 cup) of the Savory Original Snack Mix contains 160 calories and 11 fat, 12 carbohydrate, 2 fiber, 1 sugar and 2 protein grams. We tried press samples. According to store locator information, the snacks are available at Natural Grocers, 9210 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock. They're also sold online at bubbasfoods.com.
THE SKINNY: Salty banana snacks?! We found that idea not so a-peeling.
That is until we tried Bubba's Fine Foods grain-free and gluten-free 'Nana Chips and snack mixes that feature seasoned, crisp bananas in place of potatoes. Says Bubba: "Don't freak though! These 'nana's aren't sweet and we add flavor from real flavors & spices." With no hint of fruitiness, the bold, crunchy, Paleo-friendly snacks that contain no dairy or soy, were far better than we anticipated.
The chips are available in Macho Nacho, Blazing Buffalo and Grand Garlic Parm varieties. Snack mixes, which feature banana chips, as well as cashews, pecans and coconut, come in Savory Original, Righteous Ranch and Smokey Chipotle BBQ flavors.
