Man arrested on warrants after 2-hour standoff

HOT SPRINGS -- A man arrested Saturday after a nearly two-hour rooftop standoff with police was being sought on felony and misdemeanor warrants stemming from a home invasion last month and assault of his ex-girlfriend.

Landon Kyle Davis, 20, of Hot Springs was taken into custody shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the roof of the LifeNet Emergency Medical Services building at 220 Ouachita Ave. He was charged with felony counts of aggravated residential burglary and first-degree terroristic threatening, and a misdemeanor count of third-degree domestic battery.

Davis was held on bonds totaling $65,000 and appeared Monday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a woman told police that around 4 p.m. June 17 she arrived home at her residence in the 100 block of Hickory Street and found her ex-boyfriend, Davis, who also is the father of her 1-year-old daughter, inside her apartment taking a shower.

She told police that Davis knew he was not supposed to be inside her apartment, she asked him to leave, and they got into an argument. The woman said Davis grabbed her by the throat and she slapped him on the side of the head, causing him to let go, according to the affidavit.

Davis head-butted her on the nose twice, threw her on the bed and held her down by her arms, causing bruising to both arms, the affidavit said. She told police he eventually let her up and she grabbed her daughter and left her apartment.

The next day, around 3:30 p.m., the woman said she returned home and had her apartment manager check to make sure Davis was not there before she went in, the affidavit said. Shortly after the manager left, she said she heard her back window shut and Davis had entered her residence again through a window.

The woman told police they got into an argument again, and Davis told her if she called the police he would punch her in the mouth, the affidavit said. He also told her, "Watch your surroundings and watch your job because I am going to kill you," according to the affidavit.

She said neighbors intervened in the altercation and Davis eventually left. She called police, and warrants for Davis' arrest on the burglary, criminal mischief and battery charges were issued July 9.

Police responded to the woman's address again shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday to a reported disturbance. Davis fled from officers and limbed on top of the LifeNet building nearby, prompting a standoff with police as he threatened to jump.
