WASHINGTON COUNTY

The University of Arkansas offers a course on introduction to Jewish languages during the fall semester, taught by Jacob Adler, rabbi of Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville. The class meets from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

The course will introduce the Hebrew alphabet and several languages written in Hebrew letters -- ancient and modern Hebrew, Aramaic and Yiddish.

BENTON COUNTY

First Baptist Church in Bentonville, 220 S. Main St., sponsors its 16th annual clothing giveaway from 7 a.m. to noon Aug. 4. New and gently worn clothes and shoes for the entire family will be shared for free.

Donations are accepted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 31 to Aug. 2 in the church's Family Life Center.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, offers vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Sunday through Thursday for children in pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade. The theme is "Rolling River Rampage," with a focus on clothing those in need. Donations of clothing will be given to the Samaritan House.

The United Methodist Women sponsor the annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4. The church also will sell cinnamon and orange rolls, and lunch will be available. Donations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30 to Aug. 2, with the exception of clothing, furniture or televisions.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 12 McKissick Creek Road, Suite 1210, Bentonville, studies the book Living Originally: 10 Spiritual Practices to Transform Your Life by Robert Brumet from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday.

The congregation presents comedian Greg Tamblyn in a comedy concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Cost is $15 a person or two for $25.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., hosts its annual back-to-school brunch at 8:30 a.m. today. A representative of the Gravette schools will speak, sharing information about the district's "Bright Futures" program. The church also collects school supplies for Gravette students.

United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, plans a movie night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, showing The Greatest Showman. Popcorn is provided.

The church presents the Blue Grass Gospel Band playing in a bluegrass worship service at 9:30 a.m. July 29.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors "Different Strokes for Different Folks" for those with who have suffered strokes or other traumatic brain injuries, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. GriefShare starts Aug. 16 and runs for 13 weeks.
