PAPER TRAILS: Savvy Shields going from crown to wedding gown; Arkansas boutique's voluminous jumpsuit goes viral

CROWN TO GOWN: Savvy Shields, Miss America 2017 and Miss Arkansas 2016, will have a new title after next weekend: Mrs.

On Saturday, Savvy, 23, of Fayetteville, will marry Nate Wolfe, a Kansas City lawyer whom she met at a friend's wedding more than three years ago.

Mother of the bride Karen Shields says the wedding will take place at The Record event venue in Bentonville. After, the couple "will honeymoon in Florence and Paris. They will live in Kansas City. ... Savvy will continue her education, her art, social blogging, speaking engagements and social influence work with various companies."

Their wedding hashtag for those who want to keep up with soul mates Savvy and Nate: #savvyssoulnate.

We can be sure her evening wear will not disappoint.

GRIM SWIM: In the summer of 2013, Kali Hardig, 12, of Benton, contracted a rare and scary form of parasitic meningitis after swimming at a since-closed Little Rock water park.

Her father Joseph Hardig recalls being told at the hospital, "She won't make it through the weekend."

Kali, now 16, is not only alive, she's well --"I have no lingering side effects or anything. I'm doing great," she reports from Illinois, which she now calls home. And she's about to be a TV star.

Kali's story will be featured in tonight's season two premiere of the documentary series Something's Killing Me with BD Wong. The show airs at 7 p.m. on cable network HLN. And obviously, in Kali's case, it has a happy ending.

But, after that ordeal, will she still get in the water?

"I go swimming all the time," she says.

JUMPSUIT HOOT: Who remembers the movie about the traveling pants? An ad for a voluminous hot-pink jumpsuit posted on July 18 by Arkansas online boutique Cassie's Corner (facebook.com/shopcassiescorner) traveled much further via social media, racking up more than 66,000 shares and 78,000 smarty-pants comments as of deadline.

The ample, wide-legged outfit (see tinyurl.com/hotpinkpants), which Cassie's owner Cassandra Wade, calls an "off-shoulder jumper," inspired comparisons to Gumby and wisecracks like "This takes 'Go put on your big girl pants and deal with it' to a whole new level."

Wade, who founded the business in 2014 to supplement her income while earning a degree in social work, is taking it in stride -- and all the way to the bank. She sold her jumper inventory with more on back order.

"The exposure has been overwhelming," she says about her page traffic. "I can see that there are those who can appreciate my unique style of elegance. I've gotten so much support."

She adds, "My Creator is so awesome that the negative comments actually grew into something big."

As big as those pants, even!
