Man targeted in central Arkansas shooting because had previously robbed gunman, he tells police

A 21-year-old Conway man told police he was targeted in Wednesday's shooting, which briefly locked down the University of Central Arkansas campus, because he had previously robbed the suspected gunmen, according to a report.

The man told police that he and some friends used Snapchat to lure a group of people to a gas station to steal their drugs, according to the report from the Conway Police Department. The victims had threatened and harassed him since the robbery occurred six months ago, the report noted.

On Wednesday, the man left his residence at the College Park Apartments on 400 S. Donaghey Ave. about 3:15 p.m. when three people started shooting at him, officers wrote.

The victim said he knew the shooters but would not provide police with their names, other than to say one of the gunmen goes by the name "Worm" on the street.

The gunfire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.

The shots prompted university police to issue a warning via Twitter, urging students to take shelter and report any suspicious people or activity. A second tweet sent about 15 minutes later said it was safe to resume normal activities.
