Body of 64-year-old Arkansas man pulled from river

A 64-year-old Arkansas man was found dead Wednesday evening in the White River near Buffalo City, the Baxter County sheriff's office said in a news release.

The body of Edwin Evans, 64, of Lone Rock was pulled from the water after he was spotted face-down in the river. He was said to be wearing a life jacket.

The sheriff's office said Evans had been seen boating in the area between Buffalo City and Riley's Resort beginning around 9 a.m. He was seen moving inside his boat around 4 p.m., the release said, but resort officials who went to check on him later found his body in the water and alerted authorities.

The sheriff responded around 6 p.m., and a diver recovered the body, the release said.

The cause of death will be determined through an autopsy at the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock, the release said.
