Police: 17-year-old ejected, killed after SUV overturns off Arkansas highway

A teenager died after being ejected from an SUV when it overturned early Saturday off a north Arkansas highway, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 12:15 a.m. in the 8700 block of Arkansas 25 in the Cleburne County town of Concord, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.

Police say a 17-year-old by was traveling north on the highway in a 1995 Geo Tracker when it crossed the centerline and left the road before hitting a culvert and overturning.

The teen was ejected and suffered fatal injuries, according to authorities. No one else was reported hurt.

The weather was listed as clear and the road was said to be dry at the time.

At least 275 deaths have been recorded in wrecks on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
