42-year-old dies after car travels off Arkansas highway, strikes tree

A 42-year-old man died after the car he was driving traveled off an Arkansas highway Saturday and hit a nearby tree, authorities said.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. as Glen Henson of Searcy was traveling east on Arkansas 95 East in the Van Buren County community of Choctaw, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.

Police say Henson’s 2017 Hyundai Sonata drove off the highway and struck a tree, and he suffered fatal injuries. No one else was reported hurt.

The weather was described as clear and the road was said to be dry at the time.

At least 276 people have died so far this year in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads, according to preliminary figures.
