Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has given birth to a daughter, making her the first state constitutional officer in history to have a child while holding office.

Rutledge's office said in a statement that Julianna Carol Johnson was born Friday. She weighed in at 5 pounds and 15 pounces and measured 18.9 inches long.

Rutledge said that she and her husband, Boyce Johnson, are "bursting with joy over our new addition to the family."

“The birth of our daughter is an absolute blessing and gift from God," she said in the statement. "Thank you to our family, friends, and all Arkansans for the outpouring of well wishes and prayers throughout my pregnancy."
