'True Detective' hosts media day in Arkansas, names more cast members

Three more cast members of the third season of True Detective — which is being filmed in Arkansas — have been announced as the HBO show is set to host a media day for some organizations to interview its key players.

Already connected to the series' third installment was Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali, set to play the lead role of an Arkansas State Police detective; and Carmen Ejogo, who will portray a schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980.

In a news release from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, three more key cast members were announced.

The show is centered on a "macabre crime" that takes place in the Ozarks and will feature three different time periods, the releases states.

Stephen Dorff, known for his role in Blade, will play Ali's state police partner; Scoot McNairy, who starred in the AMC show Halt and Catch Fire, will play "a father who suffers a terrible loss"; and Mamie Gummer has the role of a "young mother of two at the center of" the crime.

The show is a "media day" in Huntsville on Monday for some organizations, including the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, to interview Ali, producer Scott Stephens, and writer/director Nic Pizzolatto. Pizzolatto earned a master's degree at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
