May Garden Club of the Month winners were Mary, Karen and Howard Slinkard, whose home is at Sixth and Cypress streets in Rogers. It is a beautifully kept yard with several different shrubs and trees and a magnificent backyard. As winner they will receive a $50 gift certificate from Bradford Outdoor Living and a set of coffee mugs with a picture of their gardens on them. A sign proclaiming them as GOM winners will be placed in their yard for one month. Car Club

The Foothills of the Ozarks Car Club will meet at 7 p.m. June 7 at Colton's Steak House in Rogers. Members may meet for dinner at 6 p.m.

The club was formed by a small group of old car enthusiasts who were interested in promoting their love of antique automobiles. The club meets the first Thursday of each month at various restaurants. Everyone is invited.

Radio Club

The Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club will meet at 7 p.m. June 7 at Highland Christian Church.

The program will focus on plans for the upcoming field day weekend to be held June 23 and 24 at Metfield recreational area. Field day is a 24-hour public demonstration of amateur radio operators' field communications capabilities and emergency preparedness.

The club also administers FCC exams to prospective "hams" at 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.

All meetings and exams are held at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista.

Rotary

The Rotary Club of Fayetteville meets at noon every Thursday at Mermaids Seafood Restaurant, 2217 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville. The highlights for discussion will be:

NARFE

The Bella Vista Chapter 1547 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 10 a.m. June 8 at the Hometown Bank, 21196 U.S. 71 South in Pineville.

An attorney from Elder Law Firm will give a presentation.

Garden Club

The Bella Vista Garden Club, in cooperation with the city of Bella Vista and the Bella Vista Property Owners Association, will hold the 2018 Garden Party from 4 to 8 p.m. June 8 at Simple Pleasures, 13718 Rothbury Drive in Bella Vista.

Wear a favorite summer hat for the occasion and be a part of the hat contest open to both men and women. The event will also feature local artists, music, appetizers, wine, raffles, a silent auction and more. The $15 tickets will be available at the door or at POA Member Services, Bella Vista Arvest Bank locations, Audrey's Resale Boutique, Just Petaling and from Garden Club members.

The Garden Party is being held to promote National Garden Week. Proceeds from the event are used to fund scholarships for students studying horticulture at area colleges and universities. This year the club awarded scholarships to two military veterans who are furthering their education. Funds are also used to support the Veterans Wall of Honor, Blue Star Memorial, the Bella Vista Library, Bella Vista TV and beautification projects throughout the city of Bella Vista.

Nature Society

The Flower, Garden and Nature Society of Northwest Arkansas will present the 21st annual Through the Garden Gate tour of private Northwest Arkansas gardens, plus a visit to Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9. This is a rain or shine event.

Tickets are now available at the Botanical Garden and all four locations of Westwood Gardens in Northwest Arkansas. Tickets are $15 for entrance into all seven gardens. A bonus from Botanical Garden is that the tour ticket can be used there within four weeks after the tour if a person is unable to use it on June 9. Tickets will also be available at all gardens on tour day.

Handweavers

The Northwest Arkansas Handweavers Guild will meet at 10 a.m. June 9 at the Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale. The program will be a special presentation by weavers of Marshallese descent titled "Weaving Traditions of the Marshall Islands" coordinated by the nonprofit Marshallese Educational Initiative.

The program will follow a short business meeting. Visitors are invited.

Mercedes

The Mercedez Benz Club will hold a "Fun with Wine Tasting" June 9 at the home of one of the members. There will be a sampling of six summer wines. This will be a blind tasting competition, which means the bottles will be covered. The cost for the event is $10 per person.

The club meets once a month for events, time and location vary, depending on the nature of the event. Categories of the events are driving, entertainment, social, education, charitable, technical, exhibit and awards. Owning a Mercedes Benz is not required to become a member.

Cancer Support

This supportive and educational group is for adult patients, caregivers, families and friends coping with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS or other blood cancers. The group meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.

Christian Women

The Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. June 12 at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 Lancashire Blvd.

The featured speaker is Erin Rowe of Siloam Springs. Her topic "Ozark Culinary History" is based on trial and error, as she cooked her way through "The Joy of Cooking," as well as material from her book, Tradition from Corn Dodgers to Squirrel Meatloaf. Her journey took her to the Maui Culinary Academy as well as authoring numerous magazine articles. Her book will be available for purchase after the brunch, as well as at Barnes & Noble.

The guest speaker, Dorothy Nigro of Bella Vista, has titled her presentation "Our Place at the Table." Nigro says she loves to cook, bake and entertain, and her specialty is authentic Italian cooking.

The public is invited to attend this brunch, which is held every second Tuesday of each month, and an all-American breakfast is served for $10. The program is sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries.
