Just when you think there can be no more superhero TV shows to be made, Freeform is set to introduce Marvel's Cloak & Dagger at 7 p.m. Thursday. The series is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing continuity with the films and other television series in the franchise.
The show is a coming-of-age series based on comic book characters Tandy Bowen (Dagger) and Tyrone Johnson (Cloak). Olivia Holt portrays Bowen, a once-privileged girl who watched as her family was destroyed by a storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, she has an unexpected encounter with Johnson, and it sparks a life-changing event.
Aubrey Joseph plays Johnson who, as a young man, wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But since things he held close were taken away, life taught him to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered he closes himself off, but when he meets Tandy Bowen his life is changed.
As the teenagers realize they have superpowers, a romantic relationship develops and they realize their powers work better when they are together. Dagger has the ability to emit light daggers and Cloak can engulf others in darkness and transport them through the Darkforce dimension.
