Sounds in the Stacks

Band concert

The North Little Rock Community Concert Band performs, 7:15 p.m. Friday under the canopy in the Lakewood Village shopping center, on McCain Boulevard between McCain Mall and North Hills Boulevard, North Little Rock. Rico Belotti will conduct a program he calls "Songs in the Key of J," featuring music whose title or composer's name has a "J" attached, including John Philip Sousa's Jack Tar March; "Jupiter Hymn" from The Planets by Gustav Holst; Arthur Pryor's The Whistler and His Dog; The Strategic Air Command March by Arkansas native J. The Bernice Garden Vintage and Craft Market sets up, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Bernice Garden, 1401 Main St., in Little Rock's SoMa neighborhood, featuring vintage collectibles and handmade items from area artists, craftsmen, jewelers and collectors. Boomtown Opry

Gene King, Heather Ponce, Melissa Evans, Courtney Taylor, Terry Lyne Moore, Shinbone and Dance Connection are the featured performers for Boomtown Opry, 7 p.m. Saturday at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, 100 W. Eighth St., El Dorado. BJ Kyle leads the house band with backing vocals from country duo Southern Koast (Keith Owens and Susan Tolin). Actor/singer Steve Harrell is the emcee. Aspiring singers can audition for future shows before rehearsals on show day around 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, free for children 12 and younger. Proceeds benefit the El Dorado Boys & Girls Club. Country awards

The Zac Dunlap Band won four awards, including entertainer of the year, at the inaugural Arkansas Country Music Awards ceremony Monday in Little Rock. The band also won for vocal group of the year and its song, "Arkansas' Mine," won awards as song of the year and video of the year.

Cory Jackson was county artist of the year, Bonnie Montgomery won female vocalist of the year and Blane Howard was named male vocalist of the year. Erin Enderlin's Whiskeytown Crier won album of the year.
