Hot Springs police say possible explosive devices were discovered at the scene of a suspected drug overdose early Thursday morning.

Emergency personnel were called about 12:45 a.m. to a reported overdose at a residence in the 400 block of Alcorn Street, which is in a neighborhood east of Central Avenue and north of Oaklawn Racing and Gaming.

Responders attempted to revive 30-year-old Joseph Daniels using Narcan but were unsuccessful, according to a Hot Springs Police Department news release.

The Arkansas Department of Human Services was called to the scene because there were children in the residence.

During the course of the investigation, officers discovered three possible explosive devices, police said, noting the Arkansas State Police Bomb Squad "responded to the scene to secure the devices and dispose of them."

The body has been removed from the residence.
