CEO to give talk on impact investing

An investment firm's chief executive officer will speak about impact investing at the Clinton School of Public Service on Thursday.

Laurie Spengler, chief executive officer of Enclude, is scheduled to speak about impact investing globally and locally at 6 p.m. Thursday at Sturgis Hall.

Spengler's company advises leading social impact investors and major corporations.

She previously was the CEO and president of ShoreBank International and before that she founded and served as CEO of Central European Advisory Group.

She has a juris doctorate degree from Harvard University and an undergraduate degree from Stanford.

"She has over 25 years of experience in strategy and transaction services, specifically capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity transactions. Over the past decade, she has developed a particular focus on access to capital for individual entrepreneurs and small businesses," a news release said.

Introductory class on databases set

An introductory database class will be offered by the Central Arkansas Library System on Monday.

The class, which will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., will be in Room 204 of the Bobby L. Roberts Library of Arkansas History and Art, formerly known as the Arkansas Studies Institute. The address is 401 President Clinton Ave.

The class, called Finding Family Facts, will teach people to use databases and materials to research their genealogy.

The free course is taught each month by Rhonda Stewart, a history and genealogy expert for the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies.

Center staff faces temporary move

The staff of the Central High Neighborhood Resource Center will temporarily move to the Willie Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center.

The city is doing some repairs to the Central High center at 1108 S. Park St.

There is not a specified time for how long the staff will work out of the Hinton center at 3805 W. 12th St.
