Police name suspect in Little Rock stabbing that killed man, injured another

Little Rock police have identified a suspect in a stabbing that killed one man and injured another Saturday night.

Shortly before 8 p.m., officers arrived at the 8700 block of Stanton Road to find two men with stab wounds to the chest, according to a news release from the city's Police Department.

One was transported to UAMS Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Police have not yet released the 33-year-old Little Rock resident’s name. His body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, police said.

The other stabbing victim, a 49-year-old Little Rock resident, was treated for his injuries at the scene, according to the release. He identified the attacker as Carlos Umberto Ramos, 36, and told authorities that he had been stabbed due to a disagreement they had several days earlier.

Police as of Sunday afternoon did not know why the victim who died was stabbed.

Ramos, considered armed and dangerous, is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree battery, the release states.

Police described him as standing 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He he is reportedly known to frequent the area of Stanton Road and apartments near the Walmart at 8801 Baseline Road in southwest Little Rock.
