A reported suicide in northwest Arkansas has led to the discovery of another body, authorities said Tuesday.

The West Fork Police Department was notified Monday that a 56-year-old man killed himself at his home in the 800 block of James Place in West Fork, police spokesman Tyler Underwood said.

After trying to notify the man's wife multiple times, officers conducted a welfare check at the residence and found the body of the 55-year-old woman, Underwood said.

It is unclear if the deaths are connected.

An investigation is ongoing, according to a news release from the department.

How is it unclear if the deaths are connected? Do we think he killed himself without knowing that his wife was dead in the next room? Do we think her death was just a coincidence? A better way to rephrase that sentence would be "Officials are still investigating to determine how the 55 year old woman died." He probably killed her and then killed himself, but it is possible that she killed herself or died of natural causes and then he killed himself after he discovered her body.

Well, it seems odd that he would have killed her then himself; who would have contacted the authorities about the suicide?

I'm pretty sure you are right PopMom. You would think everything about a married couple who are found dead at the same time in their own residence would be connected.

This entire report is unclear to me!

    jmgarde,

I was guessing that, shortly before he killed himself, he either called authorities or a friend or relative to tell them that he was going to kill himself.

Both bodies were not found at the same location.....One in West Fork; one in Logan County

"WEST FORK -- Police and Washington County deputies are investigating after a body was found Monday at a home, according to a news release from West Fork Police Department.

Police found the body of Lori Bruick, 55, at her home in West Fork when they went to notify her about the suicide of her husband, Lawrence Bruick, 56, officer Tyler Underwood said.

Lawrence Bruick's body was found Monday off Arkansas 309 near Mount Magazine in Logan County.

Underwood said they are waiting for the coroner's report to determine Lori Bruick's cause of death."
