Shot in robbery, Searcy man says

A 27-year-old Searcy man was shot Tuesday while he was trying to flee from two robbers, authorities said.

According to a news release from the Searcy Police Department, officers were called to the 800 block of West Woodruff Avenue shortly after noon. The shooting victim was found at a nearby business.

The man told officers he was visiting someone who lived at a home on Woodruff Avenue when two men tried to rob him. One robber was inside the home when he entered, the release states, and the other was waiting outside when the 27-year-old tried to flee through the front door.

As he ran away, the pair shot at him, police said. He was reportedly struck once in the lower back, and another bullet grazed him. According to authorities, the man -- who was not identified -- was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the release.
