3 road crashes in day leave 4 people dead

At least four people died in three crashes Wednesday, according to preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police.

Two women were killed Wednesday morning when their vehicle traveled into the path of a tractor-trailer, authorities said.

The crash happened about 11 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 62 and Arkansas 135 in Corning, according to a police report.

Kaytlyn Herndon, 21, of Jonesboro and Bonnie Taylor, 19, of Brookland were traveling north on Arkansas 135 in a 2012 Honda, according to the report. Herndon made a left turn onto U.S. 62, driving into the path of the eastbound tractor-trailer, the report said.

Both women died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

An Arkadelphia man was killed Wednesday afternoon when his vehicle left the highway, police said.

Jackie Gray, 67, was traveling west on U.S. 70 in Lonsdale in Garland County when his 2002 Buick crossed the middle turn lane and both eastbound lanes about 2:45 p.m., according to a state police report. The Buick then traveled into a ditch and then hit a tree, the report said.

The report did not say what caused the vehicle to cross the centerline. Gray was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wednesday night, a 39-year old Forrest City woman was struck by a car and killed while she was walking in a road, state police said.

Lakiska Moore was walking north in the inside southbound lane of North Washington Street in Forrest City when she was hit shortly after 8:45 p.m. by a 2008 Chevrolet Impala driving south, according to a preliminary crash report.

The weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of all three accidents, state police reported.
