Authorities: 3 Arkansas police officers hurt while taking suspect into custody

GOSHEN — Three Arkansas police officers were injured while trying to take a suspect into custody Thursday night, authorities said.

Police responded to a disturbance call at the Twin Bridges Apartments in Goshen about 10:30 p.m when 36-year-old Kelly Jendeski came outside and charged officers, the Northwest Aransas Democrat-Gazette reported. According to authorities, officers twice used a stun gun on Jendeski, but he pulled out the probes and continued fighting.

Washington County sheriff's deputies and Elkins police were called to assist.

It took nine officers to subdue Jendeski, Goshen police Capt. Zeb Rone said. said. He and two Elkins officers were hurt, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

The newspaper reported that Jendeski faces charges of three counts of felony battery on a police officer, public intoxication and resisting arrest. He did not appear on the Washington County jail's online inmate roster Friday afternoon.

The initial call was made by Jendeski's brother, who told police Jendeski showed up and began fighting with him, Rone said.
