MUDBUG MADNESS

Mass a-peel: Shuckin’ for Shelter fundraiser benefits Habit for Humanity

Partygoers enjoyed all-you-can eat crawfish and a view of the Arkansas River and the Little Rock skyline at the Shuckin' for Shelter Crawfish Boil on June 7. The inaugural mudbug fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas was held at the River House in North Little Rock.

The family-friendly event included lawn games, a live crawfish race with a chance to win an upcycled table, and music by Mickey Basinger and his band Against the Grain. Basinger is an owner of a Habitat home.

Guests were welcomed by Chief Executive Officer Bill Plunkett. "We just love y'all being here and we appreciate it very much," he told guests seated at tables with crawfish boil must-haves -- plenty of paper towels and a bucket for shells.

Money raised goes toward building a home for an individual or family which is sold to them at a zero-percent interest rate.
