Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood in The Great British Baking Show, the final season is set to air on AETN.

Fans of The Great British Baking Show should be pleased to know that the delectable competition is back for its fifth and final season on U.S. television. It premieres with episodes at 8 and 9 p.m. Friday on AETN, and airs Friday nights through Aug. 17.

Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood return as judges, and the comedy duo Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc are the show's hosts, offering comic relief and much-needed emotional support.

Twelve of Britain's best amateur bakers will don their aprons and enter the iconic tent to tackle culinary trials that increase in difficulty as the competition unfolds. Challengers prepare three creations in each episode:

• A signature bake that tests their creative flair and baking ability.

• The technical challenge, in which contestants have to bake creations using a limited list of ingredients and with minimal instruction.

• The showstopper, which is designed to showcase each baker's skill and creativity.

The show will be available to stream on pbs.org the morning after it airs. The website also will have recipes; at pbs.org look under "shows" for "baking."
