Authorities have arrested a woman accused of abusing two children at a daycare in Northwest Arkansas.
While being picked up from The Children's Hour Daycare, a child told her mother that a substitute teacher, later identified as 59-year-old Corrine Lange, had held her against the wall until she couldn't breathe for talking during nap time, according to a Bentonville Police Department report.
Security footage from the June 5 incident showed the child on a cot when Lange grabbed the side of it and tried to slide it out from under the girl. When she didn't come off, the teacher reportedly grabbed the end of the bed and dumped the child about 6 inches onto the floor. The camera then showed the victim's flailing legs and Lange's arms holding her in place for about 40 seconds, police wrote.
No visible injuries were reported, but the child later complained that her stomach and hand still hurt, according to the report.
The girl also accused the woman of pinning a friend against the wall earlier that day for "not listening," officers said.
In an interview with authorities, Lange said she placed the children against the wall because they were being disruptive, but she denied forcing them against the wall and cutting off their airways.
A supervisor said she was placing Lange on administrative leave while the licensing board investigated. The teacher surrendered to police June 13, and she was arrested on two counts of third-degree assault.
She was released, police said, and has a court date set for July 17.
