Little Rock man is accused of assault on officer

A man is accused of knocking a North Little Rock police officer to the ground while trying to escape arrest on Saturday, authorities say.

Officers were called to a family disturbance in the 1405 block of W. 20th St. about 3 p.m., according to an arrest report. There, James Lee Moore Jr., 30, of Little Rock was reportedly involved in an altercation with multiple people. He then began to walk away from police despite being told to stop and tell them his name, the report states.

Moore became aggressive as officers tried to handcuff him, police said. He then jerked away and knocked one officer down on the pavement, causing the officerto injure his head, the report states.

While the officer was lying on the ground, Moore reportedly continued to yell obscenities at the other officers.

Moore was shot with a Taser and pepper-sprayed so officers could take him into custody, police said. He was booked into the Pulaski County jail on charges of second-degree battery, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental operations, marijuana possession and fleeing, jail records show. He was being held in lieu of $7,500 bond Sunday.
