Robbed, shot several times by attacker with BB gun, North Little Rock woman tells police

A robber stole cash and cigarettes from a 37-year-old North Little Rock woman before shooting her with a BB gun several times, authorities said.

An officer responded shortly after 1 a.m. Friday to a home in the 400 block of East 21st Street, where the victim was found with four to five "welts" on her face, arms and back.

The woman said she was walking to her friend's 21st Street residence when she was "startled" by a male stranger who asked if she had a lighter, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

When she replied she didn't smoke, the assailant reportedly grabbed a bag she was carrying that contained her cellphone, some food and other personal items, ripping it.

He then pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at her and started shooting, the 34-year-old said. She told officers that she thought she "was gonna die over a Kroger sack."

The first shot grazed her face as she turned to run away, and she was struck several more times while fleeing, according to the report.

Police said she went back to the bag and found $13 and Newport cigarettes were missing.

She identified a 37-year-old suspect on Facebook, the report states, but his name did not appear on the Pulaski County jail's online roster as of Monday afternoon.
