Arkansas man, 75, dies after truck veers off highway

A 75-year-old man from Harrison died Monday after the truck he was driving crashed off a highway, authorities said.

Harlan Sharp was driving a 2001 Freightliner west on U.S. 62 near George's Creek in Marion County when the truck crossed the centerline, went off the highway and hit an embankment, according to an Arkansas State Police report. It happened about 5:40 p.m.

Sharp suffered fatal injuries. No one else was listed as being hurt.

Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry. The report didn't indicate what may have caused the truck to leave the highway.

At least 213 people have died in traffic crashes in Arkansas so far this year.
