David Orr Belcher, a former provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a pianist, died Sunday. He was 60 years old.

The cause of death was brain cancer.

Belcher was chancellor of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. He went there after working at UALR from 2003 to 2011.
