R&B, blues, soul, funk and jazz performers, including Dino D and The D Train Band and Carter Thomas, will perform for Razorbacks and Bands "Benefiting the Leotis Harris Kidney Transplant Fund," raising money toward a kidney transplant for former Razorback and Green Bay Packer Leotis Harris, 7 p.m. today-Wednesday at Cajun's Wharf, 2400 Cantrell Road, Little Rock. P-47s 'take off'

Arkansas "punkabilly" band The P-47s (Justin McGoldrick, Jimmy Young, Reade Mitchell and Michael "Bircho" Birch) will have a release party for the new album Interceptor, 8 p.m. Wednesday at South on Main, 1304 Main St., Little Rock. Met encore: Butterfly

The Metropolitan Opera's HD Live Encore of Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly (the Anthony Minghella production, "cinecast" live on April 2, 2016) will be back on big screens, 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Breckenridge 12 in Little Rock, the Razorback Cinema in Fayetteville and the Paradiso Cinema in Memphis. Soprano Kristine Opolais sings the title role of a Japanese geisha who falls in love with the faithless American naval officer (tenor Roberto Alagna) who "leases" her along with a Nagasaki harbor-side house in the 1890s. Freedom Singer

Rutha Harris, one of the Original Freedom Singers, will perform and converse at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. The program is in conjunction with the exhibit "Louder Than Words: Rock, Power and Politics," on display at the center through Aug. 5. Admission is free; reservations are required. The group traveled more than 50,000 miles singing for the civil rights movement, including a performance at the 1963 March on Washington.

Hairstyling competition

The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center and Velvatex College of Beauty Culture are holding the "Wow! The Art of Black Hair" Juried Amateur Hair Show Competition in conjunction with the "Don't Touch My Crown" exhibit, exploring the history and culture surrounding black Americans' hair, on display through Aug. 31 at the center, 501 W. Ninth St, Little Rock.

Contestants must be amateur stylists and Arkansas residents, and the styles must be their own work; licensed cosmetologists are not eligible. Submit photo entries (up to two different hairstyles, no more than up three photos per) through June 28 via social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) or by email, to info@mosaictemplarscenter.com. All entries must include the contestant's full name, email address, phone number and city/state of residence.

The center will post entries on its Facebook page and open them for public voting July 2-16.The 20 entries with the most "likes" will go to a panel of judges, who will select nine semifinalists, to be announced July 19 during a Rodney Block Listening Party at the center. Semifinalists will compete in a juried hair show Aug. 19 at the center. The beauty college will award scholarships to the top three contestants to use toward cosmetology classes: $1,500 for first place, $1,000 for second and $500 for third. Call (501) 683-3593.
