So it is better to steal with a pen than any other weapon, as long as you are an elected official. Stealing is stealing, so why not give the bastard years in prison, as he's no better than the guy that robs a store or bank. In a way he is worse, as he was a holder of public trust. But in this case like the judge in Hot Springs, that caused the death of his son, he's a Republican. Had he been a Democrat or Independent, I'd be saying the same thing. So you whiney babies needed start with your line of BS on the subject.

Yeah, yeah, he's all broken and humble now that he's been caught. He is the one to imposed his crimes on his family, and now he's hiding behind them. Despicable behavior to the end. I surely hope there are many more sentences in the feds probe into our filthy legislature. And, I really wish our governor, who sat by and allowed the pervasive corruption, would be held accountable for his silence. That my be up to us as voters. After all, the governor backed Bob Ballinger in his senate run. Ballinger thwarted all legislation that would have improved transparency. So, the governor backs those who try to hide their misdeeds. Why, we have to ask ourselves? I hope the feds stay on the trail until all of the smelly crooks have been exposed. Then, I hope the voters finish the job by voting all incumbents out, regardless of party. I won't be voting for anyone currently in office because that is the only way we will clean up the sewage flowing through our state house.

I don't care how shell-shocked this politician is, I just can't squeeze out any sympathy tears. He brought this upon himself. He violated the public trust, which goes WAY beyond stealing, and he got caught. IMO the punishment isn't nearly harsh enough and I'll bet any time he serves will be far from the regular prisons that are full of the unwashed masses.

The term “public trust” has become an oxymoron. There is no trust in any public figure.

I hear there is an opening in the garden center at his local Wal-Mart. Hope to see him there shortly after his 18 month sentence is shortened. These guys need a reality check to see what the average citizen goes through to pay taxes for perps like him to steal...
