Authorities: Woman in nightgown steals from North Little Rock discount store, threatens worker with screwdriver

Police say a woman wearing a nightgown stole from a North Little Rock discount store Monday evening and then threatened a worker who confronted her.

Shortly before 6:40 p.m., police were called to Family Dollar, 715 E. Broadway, according to a report from the city’s Police Department.

A store employee said she tried to stop a thief from leaving and confronted her over stolen items, at which point the woman took out a screwdriver and said to "get back."

Authorities noted that the woman left with a large multi-color gift bag and a large black purse. Both reportedly appeared to have been “packed full of merchandise.”

Police say the robber was followed by workers to the east side of the business, where she got into the passenger’s side of a bright yellow 1990s model Chevrolet S-10.

The robber was described as a heavyset black woman in her 50s who stands about 5 feet 2 inches tall. She reportedly wore a white nightgown with pink flowers, a white head scarf and black house shoes at the time of the theft.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
