Arkansas man killed, 2 hurt in crash; state police say vehicle ended up in ditch

A 28-year-old Arkansas man lost control of his vehicle and died in a crash Tuesday evening, state police said.

The wreck occurred about 6 p.m. on Thornton Ferry Road in rural Garland County.

Kevin C. Burks of Bismarck was driving a 1995 Chevrolet north on the road when he lost control of the vehicle in a curve, according to a preliminary crash report. The Chevrolet ended up in a ditch, and Burks suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Listed as hurt were two passengers: 23-year-old Ashley J. Murray of Arkadelphia and 26-year-old Kara Y. Armstrong of Lepanto.

Authorities said the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

At least 215 people have died in wrecks on state roads this year, according to preliminary figures.
