A convenience-store clerk who killed a 20-year-old Little Rock man in front of the store was sentenced to eight years in prison Monday.
Nicholas Lamon Beasley, 30, of Little Rock shot Jarvis Deion Garner during a late-night August 2016 confrontation in the parking lot of the E-Z Mart on Mara Lynn Drive.
Police found Garner's body by the fuel pumps and arrested Beasley, who had no criminal record.

Garner's girlfriend, 20-year-old Tyeisha Nicole Pittman of Helena-West Helena, witnessed the fatal encounter, police said.
Beasley, who had told police he was acting in self-defense, pleaded guilty as charged to reckless manslaughter before Pulaski County Circuit Judge Barry Sims in exchange for the eight-year term negotiated by defense attorney Ron Davis.
