Monument's suers seek to join forces

Opponents of Arkansas' Ten Commandments monument want to merge two lawsuits seeking to have the display removed from state Capitol grounds.

Attorneys for the groups asked Tuesday to consolidate the federal lawsuits challenging the privately funded display. A 2015 law required the state to allow its construction.

The monument was replaced in April after the original one was destroyed by a man who crashed his car into it.

The lawsuits claim the display is an unconstitutional government endorsement of religion.
