Charges have been filed against two people after a North Little Rock street race resulted in a crash and the death of a 12-year-old girl earlier this month, police said.
Michael Scales, 30, of Little Rock and Brandon Rogers, 29, of North Little Rock each face counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, according to a news release from the North Little Rock Police Department.
Police said they arrested Rogers on Tuesday. He remained in the Pulaski County jail as of Wednesday afternoon, and no bail had been set.
Scales surrendered to police Wednesday, department spokesman Sgt. Amy Cooper said in an email at 6:15 p.m. No bail had been set, jail records show.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on June 6, officers went to the area of Riverfront Drive and Olive Street after receiving a report of an accident with injuries.
There, police found a Crown Victoria "in two pieces" with its front and the engine in westbound lanes of Riverfront Drive. The rest was "wrapped around" a light pole, police said.

Scales, 12-year-old Aniyah Dilworth and an 11-year-old boy were taken to nearby hospitals. Aniyah, a passenger in the Crown Victoria, died at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
The boy and 34-year-old Sherry Battles of Little Rock were riding in a Ford Mustang driven by Rogers, authorities said.
Cooper said the crash resulted from the two drivers street racing in the area.
Witnesses told police that the vehicles were "traveling at extremely high rates of speed at the time." The actual speeds weren't clear as of Wednesday, Cooper said.
Additional charges are "under review" with the Pulaski County prosecuting attorney's office, the release states.
