A former police officer has been arrested on charges of false imprisonment, domestic battery and rape, authorities in central Arkansas say.

Matthew Kimery, 34, of Conway was booked at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday into the Faulkner County jail. Records show he remained there Thursday and was being held in lieu of $500,000 bond.

The battery charge stems from a complaint filed Saturday by a 34-year-old woman who said Kimery hit her in the eye during an altercation June 9 at his home, according to a report.

It was unclear if the rape and false imprisonment charges were connected to the battery. Faulkner County sheriff's office spokeswoman Erinn Stone said she could not comment on those charges because they were still under investigation.

Spokesmen at the Mayflower and Conway police departments confirmed Kimery had worked there in the past but didn't know why his employment at the agencies ended. A City of Conway meeting agenda posted online shows he received an award for five years of service at the department in 2012.

Stone said Kimery served as the school resource officer at Guy-Perkins and Mt. Vernon high schools.
