Tornado warning expires in northeast Arkansas

A tornado warning that had been in effect for part of northeast Arkansas has been canceled.

EARLIER:

A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Poinsett County in northeast Arkansas as strong storms roll through the area.

The National Weather Service said at 2:10 p.m. that a severe storm near Weiner was moving east at 30 mph. Radar showed rotation in the area, the agency said, noting hail up to 2 inches in diameter was also possible.

Northeastern Poinsett County was scheduled to remain under the warning until 2:45 p.m. Craighead County had been under the warning, but was later removed.

Areas within the warning area include: Trumann, Harrisburg, Bay, Weiner, Greenfield, Payneway, Tulot, Landers, Davis Spur, Elm Grove, Weona, Hatchie Coon, Cassidy, Maple, Grove, Promised Land, Whitaker, Otwell, Cary, McCormick and Old Weona.
