2 fatally shot in Arkansas, sheriff's office says; suspect identified in double homicide

Two men were found fatally shot in Arkansas on Friday night, authorities say, and a suspect has been identified by investigators.

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 9 p.m. to Arkansas 15 North in the Jefferson County community of Tucker in reference to a possible shooting, according to a news release.

Rodney Scaife, 34, was found dead behind the wheel of a vehicle along the highway, the sheriff’s office said. Another occupant, 34-year-old Trevarland Smith died while being transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

The release noted that both appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds.

Authorities said that from witness accounts, investigators were able to identify a shooting suspect: 27-year-old Joshua Lasley of Altheimer. Lasley is considered armed and dangerous.
