Ex-central Arkansas police officer accused of rape, battery

A former police officer in central Arkansas has been arrested on charges of false imprisonment, domestic battery and rape, authorities said.

Matthew Kimery, 34, of Conway was booked into the Faulkner County jail at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The battery charge stems from a complaint filed June 16 by a 34-year-old woman who said Kimery hit her in the eye during an altercation June 9 at his home, according to a report.

It was unclear if the rape and false imprisonment charges were connected to the battery. Faulkner County sheriff's office spokesman Erinn Stone said she could not comment on those charges because they are still under investigation.

Spokesmen at the Mayflower and Conway police departments confirmed Kimery had worked there in the past but didn't know why his employment at the agencies ended.

A city of Conway meeting agenda posted online shows Kimery received an award for five years of service at the department in 2012.

Stone said Kimery served as the school resource officer at Guy-Perkins and Mount Vernon high schools.
