HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Celebration also fundraiser for State Troopers Coalition

Wynona Bryant-Williams celebrated her 68th birthday by holding a fundraiser for a summer camp sponsored by the Arkansas Black State Troopers Coalition, Louis Bryant Chapter. The event, which attracted about 200 people, took place June 16 at the Metroplex.

Guests mingled and sampled appetizers before Bryant-Williams made a grand entrance, dancing with partygoers before joining her daughter, Kimberly Gardner, on stage. Before her mother entered, Gardner urged guests to not post pictures on social media sites.

"It's so much better in the flesh than to go back and look at it on a little frame," she said, adding the evening was to "Praise God for what he has done through" her mother.

"You know when God created her he planted a good seed," Gardner said.

Bryant-Williams is the widow of Trooper Louis Bryant who was killed in the line of duty in 1984. The seven-day summer camp is for boys ages 10-15 and is held at the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center near Ferndale. It offers a close-up look at law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
