DINERS' DELIGHT: Feast in the forest

Wildwood Academy of Music & the Arts benefits from Wine & Food ‘Feastival’

Smoked chicken and andouille gumbo from The Faded Rose. Shrimp and grits from the Capital Hotel. Penne pasta with chicken from Taziki's. Accented with sips of pinot noir, chardonnay, blush and merlot.

Yes, the Wine & Food "Feastival" came around again. Its 20th incarnation took place June 15 at Wildwood Park for the Arts as a fundraiser for The Wildwood Academy of Music & the Arts

Silent auction items and a cork pull greeted guests, who were chauffeured to -- and later, from -- the front door of the Cabe Festival Theatre complex via cars from Mercedes Benz of Little Rock. They then proceeded to a semicircular series of stations where they partook of morsels from high-profile restaurants around the city along with wines, beers and spirits from Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. Delicacies included goat-cheese mousse, smoked cream cheese, truffled cream cheese and chocolate desserts, compliments of Arthur's Prime Steakhouse and Oceans by Arthur's; smoked tenderloin sandwiches from Chenal Country Club; homemade hummus and fresh pita bread from Little Greek Fresh Grill; and miniature Bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes.

The Greasy Greens proved to be popular, live and lively entertainment for the evening, bringing such ditties as "Iko Iko," "Minnie the Moocher" and "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens" -- complete with hats in the shape of the barnyard fowls.

The Wildwood Academy of Music & the Arts is a summer music festival and arts camp designed for students ages 6--18 who are interested in studying music. This year's camp sessions began Monday and will run through July 27. For more information, visit Wildwoodpark.org.
