2 Arkansas teens arrested in 2 killings

Two Pine Bluff teenagers were arrested and charged over the weekend in connection with the Thursday shooting deaths of two teens.

Jermaine Jackson, 19, arrested Saturday, and Carl Turner, 18, arrested Sunday, were charged with committing a terroristic act after two 17-year-old Pine Bluff residents suffered fatal gunshot wounds Thursday, Pine Bluff police Lt. David DeFoor said. Both are being held in the Jefferson County jail without bail.

A white Dodge Charger arrived Thursday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center with two people suffering gunshot wounds at approximately 3:30 p.m., DeFoor said, just after police officers were called to a report of gunfire in the area of 27th and Orange streets. One of the men would later die while in surgery.

In the area where residents reportedly heard gunfire, DeFoor said officers found another gunshot victim inside a vehicle in a ditch near 24th and Fir streets. DeFoor said the man had died before officers arrived.

DeFoor said police believe both men who died were at one point in the same car.

Jackson and Turner, DeFoor said, were among the group that delivered the injured teen to the medical center.

The reason for the altercation is unclear, though officers expect to make more arrests in relation to the shooting in the coming days, DeFoor said.
