Bud Light Orange for Slim Pickings
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/JENNIFER CHRISTMAN Bud Light Orange for Slim Pickings

WHAT: Bud Light Orange

STATS: One 12-ounce Bud Light Orange contains 142 calories, zero fat and 14.3 carbohydrate grams and 4.2 percent alcohol by volume. I bought it at Kroger, 14000 Cantrell Road, Little Rock. More information at budlight.com.

THE SKINNY: I love beer … if it tastes nothing like actual beer and more like Kool-Aid.

So since 2008 when it was introduced, Bud Light Lime has been my brew of choice. A decade later, the brand has finally introduced another fruit flavor: Bud Light Orange, brewed with orange peels.

I’ve read online reviews from real beer drinkers who compare it not to popular radlers and shandys, but to Fanta Orange. But for this nonbeer-drinker, the very drinkable light lager that is best when cold (it can take on a bitey bitterness when warm) is both citrusy and summery.

Maybe it’s too summery. Bud Light says it’s “available only for a limited time” this season. And that is too bad.

We find Bud Light Orange quite ap-peeling.
