Arkansas Index dips in mixed trading day

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, dropped 0.51 to 418.57 Wednesday.

"Equities opened lower on the overnight resignation of Gary Cohn as chief economic adviser to President [Donald] Trump but recovered to close slightly mixed on the day as technology shares outperformed the broader market," said Leon Lants, managing director at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock.

Total volume for the index was 24.3 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
