Entergy rapped over nuclear plant lapses

Two Entergy Corp. subsidiaries -- Entergy Nuclear Operations Inc. and Entergy Operations Inc. -- have been reprimanded by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and have indicated that they will implement programs to prevent misconduct at their nuclear power plants.

Investigations conducted by Entergy last fall at the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant in Port Gibson, Miss., found that an examination supervisor deliberately compromised examinations by providing inappropriate assistance to trainees; workers did not perform required rounds to check equipment and plant conditions; and workers deliberately provided inaccurate documentation indicating that they had done those checks.

Entergy agreed to take corrective actions to resolve the problems.

About 10 percent of the nuclear power for Entergy Arkansas' customers comes from Grand Gulf. Arkansas Nuclear One near Russellville is one of Entergy's nuclear power plants.
