BENTON COUNTY

Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, 2710 S. Rife Medical Lane, presents the Heritage Edition of the St. John's Bible on display Tuesday through May 31 in the hospital lobby. Visitors may view the Bible from 6:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday. At 11:45 a.m. each Wednesday, a page of the Bible will be turned and a reflection offered. A public blessing is planned for 10 a.m. April 5.

Four Catholic health ministries collaborated to bring the Year of the St. John's Bible to Arkansas in recognition of the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Little Rock. The St. John's Bible was commissioned in 1998 by Benedictine monks of St. John's Abbey and the University of Collegeville in Minnesota. The Bible is written on vellum, using quills, natural hand-made inks, hand-ground pigments and gilding. The art piece includes 1,165 pages and 165 illuminations.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, sponsors an Easter egg hunt at 3:30 p.m. March 25. The church also sponsors a community Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. April 1 at the Metfield Clubhouse.

The church plans the following services for Holy Week: Palm Sunday, 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. March 25 (traditional services) and 9:30 a.m. March 25 ( contemporary family service); Lenten service, 11:45 a.m. March 28, followed by a Lenten luncheon; Maundy Thursday, taize service, 6:30 p.m. March 29; Good Friday worship services, noon and 6:30 p.m. March 30; Easter worship services, 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1.

Brightwater Memorial United Methodist Church, 14108 E. Highway 62, and Pea Ridge United Methodist Church, 1205 N. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rogers, 820 W. Oak St., serves a free corned-beef and cabbage supper at 5:30 p.m. today to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 12 McKissick Creek Road, Suite 1210, Bentonville, holds its spring food drive for the Salvation Army from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Walmart Supercenter on South Pleasant Boulevard in Rogers.

The church presents a variety show featuring Armand and Angelina at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. An American Indian flute workshop is offered at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Practice flutes will be available to borrow, or flutes can be purchased for $20.

Palm Sunday, worship service at 10:30 a.m. March 25; Maundy Thursday, worship service at 5:30 p.m. March 29, followed by a 24-hour prayer vigil; Easter, early worship service, at 8:30 a.m. April 1, followed by breakfast, at Forest Hills Church; Easter, worship service, 10:30 a.m. April 1 at Highland.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a Lenten service at 6 p.m. Wednesday. A supper is served at 5:15 p.m. The church offers an Easter egg hunt at 4 p.m. March 31.

The church marks Palm Sunday with just one service, at 9:30 a.m. March 25. A Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. March 29 includes communion. A Good Friday Tenebrae, service of darkness, is planned for 6 p.m. March 30. Two worship services are planned for Easter Sunday, a traditional service at 8:30 a.m. April 1 and a blended service at 10:45 a.m. April 1.

The United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, offers a Lenten supper service at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The church presents the Watoto children's choir in a free concert, "Signs and Wonders," at 7 p.m. March 27.

The church serves a Seder meal at 6 p.m. March 29. Tickets are $1 per person. A Maundy Thursday service is planned for 7:30 p.m. March 29, and a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. March 30. The church holds Easter services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. April 1. An Easter egg hunt and breakfast begins at 9:30 a.m. April 1.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a Lenten soup supper at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is $3 per person. A brief worship service and presentation by the Presbyterian Players follows the meal. In addition, the church collects cans of soup each week to be shared with Helping Hands of Bentonville.

The church offers a traditional worship service at 10 a.m. each Sunday.

The church will launch a contemporary worship service at 11 a.m. March 25, with Cody Ragland preaching. The church also offers a traditional worship service at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville, 1285 Millsap Road, presents The Big Voice Tour at 7 p.m. April 13. Grammy winning David Phelps joins with the trio Cana's Voice for the performance.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224 N. East Ave., presents its choir in a performance of the Messiah, part two, by George Friderich Handel, during a Palm Sunday Evensong at 5:30 p.m. March 25. Jack Cleghorn, organist and choirmaster, will conduct, with Ann Rye and Linda Kelly on organ.

The church presents "Meditation and Teaching with Anam Thubten, a Tibeten Buddhist teacher, at 7 p.m. April 5.

The Jewish Christian Studies Center in Springdale, 903-D W. Johnson Ave., offers a new course, "Tour of Israel: Genesis Through Revelation -- A 10-Day Journey." The eight-session PowerPoint course, led by Cynthia Douthit, examines the Bible and places in the historical context. The class will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday and April 6, April 20, May 4, May 18, June 1, June 15 and June 29.

First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road, begins Holy Week with a procession of palms at the 10:15 a.m. service March 25.

A Maundy Thursday and Good Friday communion service begins at 7 p.m. March 29. Easter worship with a flowering of the cross begins at 10:30 a.m. April 1.

The church also plans an Easter egg hunt for children at 10 a.m. March 31, and an Easter potluck breakfast at 9:30 a.m. April 1.

The church offers a community prayer wall, a way for community members to offer prayers during the Lenten season. Neighbors are invited to tie ribbons to the wall as a symbol of prayer.

Genesis Church in Fayetteville, 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., a campus of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, offers Holy Week services at 12:05 p.m. March 26-30. Lunch follows at 12:35 p.m. Various pastors from Central will speak during the services.

The church offers Easter services at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1.

Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 6 W. Dickson St., presents its chancel choir and orchestra performing Theodore Dubois' Seven Last Words of Christ for Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m. March 29.

The church hosts the M&N Augustine Foundation's 24th annual "Trent Trumbo Memorial Easter Feed" on March 31. Volunteers are needed for many roles, including preparing Easter baskets, baking, serving, delivering and cleaning up.

Easter services include: classic worship, 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1 in the church sanctuary; contemporary worship, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1 in the Great Hall; Genesis worship, 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. April 1 at the Genesis campus.
