John Brown University

Construction management students John Brown University in Siloam Springs received second place in the commercial building category at the Associated Schools of Construction Region 5 annual competition in Dallas, sponsored by TEXO. University teams in this category were asked to develop a construction project proposal in 16 hours for the Mirmar Development Center in Irving, Texas, and make a formal team presentation to a panel of construction professionals. Teams had to develop costs, work schedules, subcontractor bids, specifications and plans to resolve potential quality or safety issues for hat was built four years ago.

JBU senior Emiley Hegel won best presenter in the commercial category, and freshman Kyle Beardsley received a scholarship from the TEXO foundation.

University of Dallas

William Farrell of Fort Smith and Mary Hudgens of Berryville were named to the fall 2017 dean's list at the University of Dallas, each earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Jarred Osnes of Farmington was named to the fall 2017 honor roll, with a grade-point average 3.0 to 3.49.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock

Lara Sargent of Harrison was announced as a member of the 2017 part-time student success team of the year by the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The team was comprised of six students who juggled the daily demands of family, children and full-time jobs with navigating the demands of their first semesters in law school. From collecting supplies for Hurricane Irma victims to planning a baby shower for one of their fellow part-time students, this group worked together to ensure a successful first semester and set a great example for future part-time students.

Oral Roberts University

Zoe Davis of Fort Smith has been named to the fall 2017 provost's list Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., with a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.
